What an amazing weekend we had at the 2005 No'ar Hadash Teen Kallah and Teen Leadership Program at the JRF Convention. Throughout the weekend, members of the teen leadership va'ad led programs that they had planned, focusing on the Reconstructionist concept that "the past has a vote, not a veto." In addition, participants had opportunities to learn from visiting teachers as well as from - and with - some of the top scholars of the Movement. More than 50 teens from across North America shared their enthusiasm with the JRF Convention, bringing ruach (spirit) and excitement to workshops, meals, and most especially to Friday night services. Shabbat was spent at JRF congregation Havurah Shalom - praying, singing, laughing, discussing, relaxing, and exploring the surrounding neighborhoods of Portland, Oregon. As always, we met new friends and reunited with old ones, laughed and played, and continued to build an ever-growing Reconstructionist youth community.
